Battery Rebate Calculator – FAQ

What rebates are included in this calculator?

This calculator includes the following rebates:

• STC – Battery:

A federal incentive available from 1 July 2025, based on the battery capacity and installation compliance.

• WA Residential Battery Rebate:

A state rebate for Synergy and Horizon Power customers, based on battery size (up to 10kWh) and participation in a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).

• NSW VPP Rebate (BESS2):

A one-off incentive (up to $1,500) for eligible battery systems connected to a VPP through an ACP.

⚠ Note: The calculator does not include BESS1 rebate values, as the BESS1 will be suspended from 1 July 2025 under the NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme (PDRS).

1. Am I eligible for the STC rebate?

You may be eligible if:

• You install a Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved battery system;

• You use a CEC-accredited installer;

• For battery STCs, your system is installed on or after 1 July 2025;

• You submit all required compliance documentation.

2. Am I eligible for the WA Battery Rebate?

You may be eligible if:

• You are a Synergy or Horizon Power customer;

• You install an eligible battery system;

• You join a participating VPP program;

• You use an approved installer under the WA Battery Scheme.

3. Am I eligible for the NSW VPP Rebate (BESS2)?

You may be eligible if:

• You are based in NSW;

• You install an eligible battery on or after 1 July 2025, or installed one from November 2024 but haven't joined a VPP yet;

• You connect to a participating VPP provider;

• You go through an ACP (Accredited Certificate Provider).

4. Can I claim both state and federal rebates?

Yes. You can combine:

• The federal STC rebate, either the NSW VPP incentive or the WA Battery Rebate, as long as your system and installation meet the respective eligibility criteria.
